Accenture and Mujin, a leader in intelligent robotics, have formed a joint venture called Accenture Alpha Automation to support digital transformation in the manufacturing and logistics sectors. The new company is 70% owned by Accenture and 30% by Mujin.
The goal of the venture is to provide data-driven solutions that connect data from production and logistics sites with management-level information such as financial, supply chain, and market data. By doing so, it aims to enable the creation of a digital twin of the entire enterprise.
Mujin offers intelligent automation platforms that simplify the deployment of industrial robots by eliminating the need for complex motion setting and peripheral device integration. Accenture brings experience through its Industry X digital engineering and manufacturing service.
The joint venture will combine these capabilities to integrate previously disconnected data systems, allowing client companies to make faster and better-informed decisions, and to advance toward hyper-automation in their operations.
Atsushi Egawa, who leads Accenture’s business in Japan, noted that manufacturing is the foundation of Japanese industry, and that accelerating the sophistication of production and logistics is critical for national growth. He emphasized that teaming up with Mujin allows Accenture to help clients take advantage of AI and robotics to transform the entire value chain.
Issei Takino, CEO of Mujin, stated that the joint venture will leverage Mujin’s robot automation technology to drive a paradigm shift in manufacturing and logistics, first in Japan and then globally.
