On June 8 2018, Omron announced that they would expand control equipment plants in Shanghai.
Investment amount is about 1 billion yen and it will start operating in July 2018.
Photoelectric sensors and proximity sensors are manufactured in the plants.
In China, shortage of labor and rising labor costs are becoming more serious, and automation of manufacturing sites is rapidly advancing.
That is the reason demand for control equipment and industrial robots has increased accordingly.
Omron rebuilds its production system by expanding its local factories to respond to the expansion of demand.
They intends to double its production capacity by 2020 compared to 2017.
