December 3, 2018

On August 30, 2018, Daihatsu announced that it would construct a new plant at the Kyoto Plant in Oyamazaki Town, Kyoto Prefecture.
Approximately 35billion yen is invested.
The total floor area is approximately 42,000 square meters.
The new plant will start operation in stages, and it will be completed by around 2022.
The purpose of this construction is to restructure the production system of the Kyoto plant since 45 years have passed after its operation.
Painting and assembly processes are transferred to the new factory.
The factory  manufactured the company’s main compact car “Sharade” and contract manufacturing of Toyota’s “Pro box”, and plans to build a production system for the next generation of new models in the future.
