The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced on February 20, 2020, it would establish “automotive council for coronavirus countermeasures” with the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and The Japan Auto Parts Industries Association, preparing for the impact of the spread of the coronavirus on the automobile supply chain. Automakers, parts manufacturers, and the government work together to share common issues and countermeasures in the industry, such as epidemic control, supply chains, and logistics. In addition, three of them will consider measures for raising cash in case that the impact is prolonged.
