Aichi Steel increases production of component for electric vehicles

Aichi Steel constructed a second line of lead frames for power cards at the Gifu Plant in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, and held a completion ceremony on April 30, 2020. The investment amount is about 1.5 billion yen.

The vehicles powered by electricity such as HV and EV, are equipped with a power card that controls the electric power of the motor. A lead frame is an indispensable heat dissipation component that constitutes a power card. Aichi Steel has established an integrated automatic line that can produce a wide variety of products with high quality and in a timely manner, increasing productivity by 20%. The new line has a monthly production capacity of 1.8 million units for 60,000 vehicles. The total production capacity of the lead frame at the Gifu Factory, including the existing production line, will be doubled to 3.6 million units per month.
