ORBIS, which handles mail-order sales of cosmetics, started operation of the automatic shipping system “T-Carry system” at a distribution center in Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture on August 25, 2020.
When orders are received, 330 small automated guided vehicles (AGV) are responsible for picking up the cosmetics products and transporting them to the places where inspection and packing are carried out.
One AGV is assigned to one order. The AGVs autonomously run on the optimum course in response to instructions from a control system that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI).
Besides, the fastest class automatic machine packs and sorts the picked cosmetics by destination area. Compared to the conventional shipping line, the shipping capacity is 1.3 times, the labors are saved by 27%, the shipping cost per case is reduced by 18%, and the power consumption is reduced by 40%.
The T-Carry system was co-developed with Ryutsu Service, a logistics company, and TSUBAKIMOTO CHAIN, which manufactures sorting machines.
