Grinding Technology Japan 2021: Many debut machines exhibited (2/2)

March 30, 2021

The exhibition specializing in grinding “Grinding Technology Japan 2021 (GTJ2021)” was held at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City from March 2nd to 4th, 2021. 107 companies and organizations such as domestic and foreign grinding machine builders and grindstone makers exhibited at GTJ2021. The total number of visitors for the three days was about 1,700. Exhibitors unveiled many new products at GTJ2021. SEISAINZAI Japan editorial department reports on the latest products of major exhibitors, divided into the first part and the second part.

To explain technology with 10 monitors / Nagase Integrex

Nagase Integrex, a surface grinder builder, reduced the number of exhibits to counter COVID-19, and instead placed 10 monitors at intervals. Nagase showed videos to explain multiple models and technologies.

The company also introduced a grinding support system under development. The user inputs the data of the material, outer shape, dimensional accuracy, etc. of the workpiece, and the system presents the optimum machine, grindstone, machining conditions. Even a low-skilled operator can easily grind well. Nagase plans to start offering this system around the summer of 2021.

Demonstrating on-board measurement system / Makino Milling Machine

Makino Milling Machine, a manufacturer of tool grinder, exhibited a tool grinder “SG10” equipped with its own on-machine measurement system “monocam2”. monocam2 is a system that automates measuring and correcting workpieces inside of the machining space. These additional operations were a heavy burden of tool grinding process for operators.

The person in charge said, “We were finally able to show off monocam2. There are not many visitors in GTJ2021, but there are many people who are interested in grinding.”
