In August 2021, Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry, a builder of multi-tasking machines, announced that seven of its multi-tasking machines can be newly equipped with oscillating cutting function as an optional feature. A total of 14 models can be equipped with the oscillating cutting function.
The function is a cutting technology that moves the tool back and forth slightly by servo control to divide chips into small pieces. The function was developed by Nakamura-Tome in February 2021. Since chips do not wrap around tools and workpieces, it is possible to reduce defects and shorten machine downtime.
