On October 4, 2017, Iwata Tool exhibits the Open Garage, which it built at the end of last year, to the press.
The old factory building was remodeled. The floor area is 300 ㎡, and the first floor is used as an open garage, and the second floor is used as an employee cafeteria and cafe (= photo).
“We want local children, students, and others who don’t normally have access to machine tool to learn about its appeal,” Masanao Iwata, president of the Iwata Tool said.
A total of 10 machine tool units were installed in the garages, including conventional lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Visitors can actually experience machining. 3D printer and robots were installed in the cafes on the second floor.
It is attractive to be able to experience not only cutting but also a variety of manufacturing activities. Establishment of the garage also included a number of local student opinions. “The starting point is to increase the number of people who will be involved in manufacturing in the future. We have obtained innovative ideas, such as science cafes,” President Iwata said.
