On September 22, 2021, Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association (JMTBA) announced that it will raise its forecast for Japan’s machine tool orders in 2021 to 1.45 trillion yen from the 1.2 trillion yen forecast at the beginning of the year. This represents an increase of 60.8% over the previous year.
Domestic demand is 450 billion yen, the same amount as forecast at the beginning of the year. Foreign demand has been revised upward from the 750 billion yen, forecast at the beginning in 2021 to 1 trillion yen. JMTBA has revised upward its forecast for order in 2021 due to the current strong order trend.
