Results differ between for domestic and overseas
In the first half of 2021, the global economy showed a recovery trend as economic activities gradually normalized with the spread of the vaccine for COVID-19 infection.
The Japanese economy also showed signs of recovery, but the situation remained severe due to the spread of COVID-19 new variant.
As the economy recovered, corporate demand for capital investment also improved, and in the first half of 2021, Japan’s machine tool industry also saw a recovery trend as demand from overseas increased.
According to data compiled by Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association (JMTBA), production, orders, sales, and exports were up from the same period last year. However, the import amount and domestic consumption (production + import – export) were lower than the same period last year. The supply and demand of machine tools in Japan differ between for the domestic and overseas markets.
SEISANZAI Japan editorial team will introduce the trends of Japanese machine tool orders for the first half of 2021 tomorrow.
