Taiwan’s largest machine tool exhibition, the 2023 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS2023), was held from March 6 to 11 and attracted about 45,000 visitors. About 6,000 of these visitors came from overseas. Many visitors came from overseas due to the drastic easing of entry restrictions in Taiwan last October following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, also attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech in which she stated that the government will continue to support and strengthen the machine tool industry as the cornerstone of Taiwanese industry. She also toured the venue and had dinner with industry representatives to deepen exchanges with them. From Japan, Dr. Yoshiharu Inaba, chairman of the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association, and Akihiro Teramachi, chairman of the Japan Machine Accessory Association, attended.
Many Taiwanese manufacturers are working on various approaches to environmental responsibility, which they presented and promoted to the visitors. Japanese manufacturers also promoted high quality in addition to environmental friendliness. They tried to capture the demand not only for new equipment, but also for “replacement” equipment from Taiwanese manufacturers.
