Mujin (Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Issei Takino), a leading Japanese provider of intelligent automation solutions, has announced the development of “TruckBot”, a robot that automates the task of unloading trucks. TruckBot has already been launched in the U.S. and is scheduled to be available in Japan by the end of this year.
The TruckBot is an autonomous robot that can unload both truck trailers and shipping containers at a rate of up to 1,000 boxes per hour.
It achieves high productivity by autonomously calculating the most efficient movement route using the “Mujin Controller,” which controls the movable conveyor, hand, and 3D vision sensor originally developed by the company. It reaches up to 15 m (52 ft) into the truck trailer or shipping container and can handle boxes weighing up to 22 kg (50 lbs). The system uses 3D case detection technology developed for the depalletizing system.
With the development of the new Trackbot, Mujin can now offer automation of a wider range of warehouse processes, including unloading, depalletizing, conveying, order picking and palletizing.
