The 32nd Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2024) concluded successfully, attracting great attention from the industry. Following the event, major FA companies have started their traditional post-JIMTOF private shows in full swing since December last year. Despite the current challenges in order trends, these companies aim to convert the leads generated at JIMTOF2024 into concrete sales by showcasing new machines and cutting-edge technologies during their private exhibitions.
From December 4 to 6, Yamazaki Mazak hosted the “JIMTOF2024 Encore Fair” at its Minokamo Plant in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, attracting approximately 2,600 visitors over three days.
The event featured a record 37 machines, including three new models. According to Senior Corporate Officer Kazuya Horibe, “This is the highest number of exhibits we’ve ever displayed at one time.”
The highlight was the new entry-level multitasking machine “INTEGREX j-200 NEO Series,” launched to the market at the show. Compared to its predecessor, this model offers increased spindle power and torque for superior machining performance.
An automatic sorting system for laser processing machines was also introduced for the first time. “We adopted the same automation concept as our ‘Ez LOADER,’ which can be operated through our MAZATROL CNC, with the aim of providing an accessible automation system for everyone,” Horibe explained.
Brother Industries held its “Solution Fair 2024” on December 5 and 6 at the Brother Technology Center in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, drawing about 350 visitors over two days.
The private show featured the company’s entire lineup of “SPEEDIO” series compact machining centers (MCs), including new models introduced at JIMTOF2024.
A standout exhibit was the “DG-1,” a compact 4-axis machine with a BT15 spindle taper specially designed for deburring die-cast parts. Norihiko Fujisawa, Machine Tools Sales Division Manager, said, “We aim to improve understanding of the DG-1 by making it the centerpiece of our exhibits.”
The company also showcased the gear machining capabilities of its compact multi-tasking machine “M200Xd1-5AX,” which integrates turning, gear cutting and milling into a single unit, making it ideal for low-volume, high-mix gear production. Live demonstrations of gear machining captivated visitors throughout the event.
Makino held its “After JIMTOF2024 Nagoya” event on December 12 and 13 at its Nagoya Technical Center in Nagoya City, Japan, attracting about 300 visitors.
The event featured two new models from its flagship “V Series” vertical MC series, which were introduced for the first time at JIMTOF2024.
Particularly popular was the “V900,” a 3-axis vertical MC designed for machining large molds, along with sample work of an instrument panel mold produced with the machine. Despite a total machining time of about 390 hours, the mold maintained a machining accuracy of ±10 μm. Makino used the mold exhibit to demonstrate the V900’s ability to maintain accuracy over long machining times.
Visitors were able to examine the instrument panel mold firsthand and were impressed by its remarkable accuracy.
