Sugino Machine (based in Namerikawa City, Toyama Prefecture) has developed a new waterjet cutting machine specialized for food processing. The company unveiled the machine for the first time at the 29th MACHINERY, MATERIALS, MARKETING OF BAKERY AND CONFECTIONERY SHOW (MOBAC SHOW 2025) held in February at Intex Osaka in Suminoe Ward, Osaka City. MOBAC is a specialized exhibition of machinery and materials for the bakery and confectionery industry.
The newly developed food grade waterjet cutting machine applies Sugino Machine’s core technology of ultra-high–pressure waterjet cutting to the food industry. By using ultra-high–pressure water, the machine enables smooth, precise cuts without crushing soft foods such as bread and confectionery. A company representative explained, “We leveraged our expertise in machine tool manufacturing, but incorporated many unique innovations for food processing. For example, we designed the machine for easy sanitation and implemented a user-friendly interface that allows anyone to operate it effortlessly.
The machine was also designed with space efficiency in mind, incorporating feedback from culinary professionals to ensure seamless integration into kitchen environments.
Initially, Sugino Machine will focus on domestic sales, where its service network is well established, while looking to expand into overseas markets in the future.
