News Digest Publishing Co., Ltd., a media company based in Nagoya, Japan, has announced that Dr. Shu Yasumi, who has served as Editor-in-Chief, has been appointed as the new President, effective May 21, 2025. The decision was approved at the Board of Directors and General Shareholders’ Meetings held on May 16, 2025.
Dr. Yasumi will continue in his editorial leadership role while also assuming the responsibilities of President, leading both our media and exhibition operations.
The leadership change marks the retirement of Hachiro Higuchi, who served as President and now assumes the role of Senior Advisor. Dr. Shu Yasumi, known for his editorial leadership in the company’s flagship media platforms, will take over the company’s top executive position.

Shu Yasumi, age 50, was born in Fukushima Prefecture and holds a Doctorate in Engineering from Nagoya Institute of Technology. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1998 with a degree in Economics, he gained hands-on experience in manufacturing at a U.S.-based job shop. He joined News Digest Publishing in 2010 and has led the editorial division for many years.
“Since joining the company in 2010, I have focused on editorial work and have been serving as Editor-in-Chief of our media platforms,” said Yasumi. “Our company publishes three specialized media outlets: SEISANZAI Marketing Magazine, a monthly publication covering machine tools and the manufacturing industry; robot digest, a web magazine focused on industrial robotics and automation; and SEISANZAI Japan, an English-language news site reporting on the machine tool and factory automation (FA) industries.”
“As Editor-in-Chief of these publications, I have continually worked to develop them into valuable and trusted sources of information for our readers. Going forward, I will also lead our exhibition operations—including MECT (Mechatronics Technology Japan) and RTJ (Robot Technology Japan)—and strive to contribute to the growth of both the FA industry and our business as a whole.”
