From June 4 to 6, Shibaura Machine held the 19th Shibaura Group Solution Fair 2025 at its headquarters and factory in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The event attracted a total of approximately 4,000 visitors over three days.
“As our key customers in the automotive sector continue to evolve EV and hybrid technologies,” said President Shigetomo Sakamoto, “we focused this year’s show on solutions that anticipate future demands, aiming for implementation from 2026 onward.”
One major highlight was the company’s virtual reality (VR) demonstration of the DC12000GS, a die casting machine featuring one of the largest clamping forces in Japan at 12,000 tons. The machine is designed to support giga-casting—a process in which large vehicle parts are molded as single aluminum components.
In the machine tool area, Shibaura promoted the newly released BTH-150.R35 horizontal boring and milling machine, launched in May. The machine is sized to accommodate large parts such as gearboxes used in power plants and can be customized with optional configurations to meet specific machining needs.
Due to space constraints at the venue, the company exhibited the BTH-130.R24, a smaller model from the same series.
A company representative explained, “As the use of next-gen vehicles expands, electricity demand will grow. Power generation equipment—especially for wind and hydro energy—is becoming larger to improve efficiency. We aim to support the growing needs of these sectors by offering suitable large-scale machining solutions.”
