Star Micronics has developed the SP-32, a new Swiss-type automatic lathe that inherits the basic configuration of its flagship SP-20 model while expanding the maximum machining diameter to 32 mm.
With a wide range of tooling options and advanced software features, the SP Series is designed to meet diverse machining needs across industries such as IT infrastructure equipment used in data centers, automobiles, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and general machinery.
The front tool post adopts a gantry-style layout surrounding the guide bushing. It can mount six tool holders on the operator side and a six-axis cross-drilling unit on the opposite side.
For backworking, users can choose between a four-axis or five-axis tool post depending on the workpiece geometry. By combining various rotary tool units, operators can achieve optimal process division and simultaneous machining on both front and back sides—reducing cycle times.
The NC unit is equipped with several user-support functions, including “EASY EDIT”, which allows even less-experienced operators to easily create machining programs, and a batch output function for program data.
An optional in-machine deburring function also enables simple burr removal through easy program settings.
