On October 3, Fujitsu and U.S. semiconductor giant NVIDIA announced an expanded strategic collaboration at an event in Tokyo. Fujitsu President and CEO Takahito Tokita (left in photo), appearing alongside Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, stated: “We are taking a step forward toward realizing a society driven by artificial intelligence (AI) with a shared vision.”
The two companies will jointly develop industry-specific AI platforms for sectors such as manufacturing, robotics, and healthcare. In the robotics field, Fujitsu and NVIDIA are advancing collaboration discussions with Yaskawa Electric. The partnership envisions providing AI infrastructure jointly developed by Fujitsu and NVIDIA to power Yaskawa’s next-generation autonomous robot, MOTOMAN NEXT.
Fujitsu also announced the development of an AI computing system that seamlessly connects its FUJITSU-MONAKA central processing unit (CPU) with NVIDIA’s graphics processing unit (GPU). In addition, the companies plan to jointly advance foundational technologies for quantum computing.
