MECHATRONICS TECHNOLOGY JAPAN (MECT) 2025, one of Japan’s largest machine tool exhibitions, was held at Port Messe Nagoya from October 22–25. The four-day event drew 77,613 visitors, with strong crowds from the opening morning as long lines formed at the entrance gates before doors opened.
Opening ceremony highlights strong industry momentum
At the opening ceremony, many exhibitors and guests gathered to celebrate the event’s opening. In his address, Shu Yasumi, President of News Digest Publishing, the organizer of MECT, stated: “Capital investment is the source of competitiveness. We hope MECT 2025 will serve as a turning point and a catalyst for economic recovery.”
Chizuru Suga, Director of the Industrial Machinery Division at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), added: “This is a valuable opportunity to experience the strength of Japanese manufacturing firsthand. Expectations are high for MECT’s role in enhancing industrial competitiveness and fostering innovation.”
Shigetomo Sakamoto, President of Shibaura Machine and Chairman of the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association (JMTBA), also commented: “I hope MECT will contribute significantly to resolving the Japanese industry’s aging equipment issues.”
Largest MECT ever draws enthusiastic crowds
A total of 524 companies and organizations (2,092 booths) exhibited at this year’s show—the largest number of exhibitors in MECT’s history. Despite sluggish domestic demand in Japan’s machine tool and FA sectors, the exhibition halls were filled with energy. Visitors crowded into booths to explore the latest solutions, and exhibitors responded with dynamic demonstrations and business discussions that lived up to the show’s tagline: “This discovery is hot!!!! (この発見、激アツ!!!!)”
A detailed on-site report from SEISANZAI Japan will follow soon.
