Makino Milling Machine held its “Parts Machining Technology Seminar in Nagoya” on December 4 and 5 at the Nagoya branch in Moriyama Ward, Nagoya. The seminar was organized into morning and afternoon sessions each day. The first session focused on “Automation Starting with Process Integration,” while the second session, titled “Machining Technology Seminar for the Aerospace Industry,” introduced Makino’s latest solutions.
The seminar consisted of classroom lectures and live machine demonstrations in the showroom. In the first session, Makino explained the functions and machining examples required to achieve process integration, centering on the 4-axis horizontal machining center “a51nx” and the 5-axis vertical machining center “DA500” with turning capability.
The presentation demonstrated that by reducing setup changes through process integration and adopting multi-piece machining to maximize productivity, extended unattended machining can be achieved without introducing robots.
DA500 demonstrations showcased not only 5-axis machining and turning operations but also the “GI Breaker,” a chip control function designed to prevent chip entanglement during turning operations.
