Daifuku opens R&D hub for next-generation material handling systems

Daifuku opened “Tokyo Lab,” a research and development center for advanced technologies, in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on March 11. The investment amount was not disclosed. The facility has a floor area of approximately 1,000 square meters and consists of research and development areas, as well as demonstration and testing areas 

At this lab, the company will further develop the technologies and expertise cultivated over many years across its various businesses to create next-generation material handling systems centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. The initial staff will be approximately 30 people, expanding to 50 by fiscal 2027 through internal transfers, new graduate hires, and mid-career recruitment.
