Iris Product constructs new factory for reconstruction after 3.11 earthquake

IRIS Product, the group company of IRIS OHYAMA signed a location agreement with Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture for a new plant on January 28, 2020. The new plant will manufacture artificial turf, oxygen absorbers, and flat and corrugated sheets for building materials. The investment amount is 5.4 billion yen and the site area is 24,000 square meters. The company aims to create employment by constructing a new factory in the Reconstruction Industrial Park in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, aiming to recover areas severely damaged by the 3.11 earthquake and nuclear disaster, 2011. The new factory will introduce a highly efficient production line using production equipment technology, as well as an ordering forecasting system and a production plan management system using IT and IoT in addition to utilizing robots. The factory will start of operation in March 2022.
