GS Yuasa constructs the new factory of lithium-ion batteries for HV

GS Yuasa announced on January 29, 2020, through its subsidiary Blue Energy, that it will build a new plant for lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles（HV）in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture. The new plant will start operation in FY2022. The total floor area of the new factory is about 30,000 square meters.

Electrification of vehicles is being promoted to reduce the burden on the environment. The sales of HVs are expected to increase in Europe, North America and China under this condition. The company has decided to build a new plant for lithium-ion batteries used in HV in response to this growing demand. The production line of the existing factory also will be strengthened, and the production capacity will be more than doubled by 2023.
