Toray Industries developed film that transmits light from the front and reflects light from an oblique

Toray Industries announced on January 29, 2020 that it has developed world premiere film PICASUS VT that transmits light from the front and reflects light from an oblique direction. It is expected to be used in head-mounted displays (HMDs) and head-up displays (HUDs) for AR (augmented reality) and MR (mixed reality) applications, peep prevention films, and display films.

The new developed PICASUS VT has the function of transmitting light from the front and reflecting light from an oblique direction by using the original nano-lamination technology and with high precision control of the resin refractive index based on a new optical design. The projection information can be clearly displayed while maintaining visibility when used for an HMD and HUD for AR and MR. Toray Industries aims for commercialization three years from now.
