Showa Denko builds a plant for high-purity gas for electronic materials in Shanghai

Showa Denko announced on January 8, 2020 that it will build a plant for high-purity gas for electronic materials in Shanghai, China. The new plant will be built in Shanghai, adjacent to Shanghai Showa Electronics Materials. It is approximately 10,000 square meters. High-purity nitrous oxide（N2O）and high-purity octafluorocyclobutane（C4F8 ) will be produced . High-purity N2O is used to form oxidized films on surfaces of integrated circuits which will compose semiconductor chips or display panels, and high-purity C4F8 is a special gas used for etching of those oxidized films and other micromachining processes. In China, the semiconductor and display markets are expected to expand, so the company has decided to build a new plant.
