Sumitomo Electric Industries announced on January 23 that it will make a full-scale expansion of its cutting tool business in the aircraft field. Sumitomo Electric Carbide, a group company in the United States, joined Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D), industry-academia-government cooperative consortium for aircraft in December 2019. The company aims to grasp the cutting needs of aircraft engines and aircraft structural parts in the US and European markets, accelerate the development of highly efficient and long-lasting tools, and makes a full-scale expansion in the aircraft field.
