Nihon Kohden, a medical equipment manufacturer, announced on April 15, 2020 that it would increase the production of the ventilator “NKV-330” at Tomioka Production Center in Tomioka city, Gunma prefecture, in response to the increasing demand for ventilators in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company aims to supply 1,000 units in the next 6 months in cooperation with automobile manufacturers and the Japanese government.
The ventilator “NKV-330” is a mask type that inserts a tube into the trachea. The “NKV-330”, which will be produced this time, is for patients with mild conditions, and the tracheal insertion type owned by domestic medical institutions will be used for patients with severe conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
