Boeing’s decision to cut aircraft production amid the global spread of COVID-19 has impacted the Japanese aircraft industry, which supplies many of the company’s parts. On April 23, 2020, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced that it would temporarily suspend operations at its Oye Plant, which supplies airframe parts to Boeing. The suspension is scheduled to take place over a maximum of 10 days between May 11 and May 29.
On April 24, 2020, ShinMaywa Industries also announced the suspension of production lines for Boeing-related aircraft parts at three of its plants in Hyogo Prefecture. The production halt is planned to last for approximately one month, starting from the end of April.
