Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced on May 7, 2020 that it has agreed to acquire the small aircraft’s Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) business of Bombardier, leading aircraft manufacturer of Canada on June 1. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will inherit the CRJ series maintenance, customer support, refurbishment, marketing, sales functions and type certification.
The business will start on June 1 under the newly established corporate group “MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ)”. MHIRJ complements the existing commercial aircraft business and will provide comprehensive services and solutions, including the CRJ series and, in the future, the Mitsubishi SpaceJet.
