Takamatsu Machinery postpones construction of new machine tool plant due to COVID-19

New factory in Hakusan to begin operations in April 2022

Takamatsu Machinery announced on May 1, 2020, that it will postpone the construction schedule of its new machine tool plant in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The decision was made in response to the anticipated decline in machine tool demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled to begin operations in April 2021, the new plant is now expected to start in April 2022.

The company had announced the construction plan in November 2019 to address the shortage of production space following steady sales growth. The total investment is approximately 3.5 billion yen, and the new facility will cover about 12,000 square meters.

A portion of the manufacturing department’s operations will be relocated from the head office plant to the new site, allowing Takamatsu Machinery to strengthen its production capacity for machine tools.
