THK launches autonomous mobile robot and starts trials at the train station

THK launched the autonomous mobile robot “SEED-Mover with Lifter” on July 7, 2020. The mobile robot is a combination of an autonomous traveling carriage and a lifter that moves up and down. The traveling carriage is capable of omnidirectional movement in a narrow space and 360-degree turning. The lifter can be pulled up and down as well as raised and lowered. Users can customize SEED-Mover to meet their needs like for serving dishes at restaurants.

Besides, THK has started a demonstration experiment using SEED-Mover at Takanawa Gateway station of East Japan Railway in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The robot carries the drinks loaded in the lifter to the designated place. The lifter loaded with drinks moves up and down to adjust the height according to the height of people who get drinks.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, it is required to provide a service that minimize contact with people. Robots can provide services while avoiding the human interactions.
