Japan industrial robots orders for 3Qincreased by 0.6%

On October 23, 2020, Japan Robot Association announced the order value and shipment value of industrial robots from member companies for the July to September period of 2020.

The amount of orders received was 171.6 billion yen, up 0.6% from the same period of the previous year, the first increase in two quarters. Shipments decreased 10.4% year-on-year to 157.7 billion yen. Among the shipment, the export value decreased by 3.2% to 117.9 billion yen. Exports to China increased 7.3% year-on-year to 58.2 billion yen, recovering to the same level as in the same period of 2018, which was strong.

Besides, industrial robots for semiconductors has been keeping favorable condition from the end of 2019 worldwide. However, overall, the number fluctuated depending on the application of the robot and the destination country due to the continued instability caused by the effects of COVID-19 and trade friction between the United States and China.
