DMG MORI announced on October 26, 2020 that it has developed an automatic chip removal system “AI Chip Removal”. Two high-performance cameras take an image of the machining chamber, and AI detect chips accumulation status. AI generate the optimal cleaning path according to chip positions and conditions, and motor-driven coolant nozzles efficiently and automatically remove chips. It reduces machine outages and machining defects caused by chips and maximizes the production capacity of automatic systems.
First, DMG MORI installed “AI Chip Removal” in its four horizontal machining centers, and the number of models will be expanded from 2021 onwards.
