FA manufacturers exhibit at CEATEC

CEATEC JAPAN 2017, a comprehensive IT and electronics exhibition, was held at Makuhari Messe for four days from October 3 to 6, 2017. Lately, exhibitions have undergone a major change, from showcasing to proposing new business models.
This time, there were many exhibitors with solution proposals centered on themes such as the Internet of Things(IoT). Robots as well as electrical equipment attracted visitors. FA manufacturers also exhibited.
Amada Holdings introduced its own IoT system “V-Factory” for sheet metal machining. Jtekt exhibited “add-on” products, which make existing facilities compatible with IoT, and appealed to less familiar food and semiconductor industries.
Fanuc exhibited its “FIELD Systems” IoT platforms for manufacturing industry, and introduced its edge computing technologies. Omron exhibited table tennis robots, which can be considered a technical icon (=photo). The robot was established by combining high elemental technologies and attracted attention of visitors.
