CEATEC JAPAN 2017, a comprehensive IT and electronics exhibition, was held at Makuhari Messe from October 3 to 6, 2017. The exhibition has been evolving from a traditional product showcase to a platform for proposing new business models.
At this year’s event, many exhibitors presented solution-based proposals centered on the Internet of Things (IoT). Robots and electrical equipment also attracted significant attention from visitors.
Manufacturers in the factory automation (FA) sector also participated actively. Amada Holdings introduced its proprietary IoT system “V-Factory” designed for sheet metal machining.
JTEKT showcased “add-on” products that enable existing production facilities to become IoT-compatible, targeting industries such as food and semiconductors that may have less familiarity with FA technologies.
Fanuc presented its “FIELD system,” an IoT platform designed for the manufacturing industry, and demonstrated its edge computing technologies. Meanwhile, Omron drew attention with its table tennis-playing robot, which served as a symbol of advanced core technologies and captivated many visitors.
