On October 5, 2017, Yaskawa Electric announced a new automation and digitization concept for plant operations called i3-Mechatronics. The concept is designed as a total solution that integrates the company’s core products—servo systems, inverters, and robots—with software solutions that enable data utilization.
By connecting factory equipment and collecting operational data, the system enables real-time production monitoring. This visualization helps improve productivity across the production line.
Analyzing quality-related data allows for standardized inspection processes and contributes to better product quality. The concept also promotes predictive maintenance using AI and efficiency improvements with AR, ultimately reducing downtime and enhancing overall plant performance.
The concept will be presented at the International Robot Exhibition (iREX) 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight on November 29, 2017. In June 2018, Yaskawa plans to introduce and validate the system at its Yaskawa Solution Factory located in its Iruma plant.
