On June 23, 2021, DENSO, a leading global mobility supplier, announced that it had invested in Seurat Technologies, a U.S.-based start-up developing metal 3D printing systems. The investment aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of Seurat’s patented additive manufacturing (AM) technology.
Seurat’s Area Printing process enables high-speed, high-precision, and cost-effective mass production of metal components. The technology is designed to meet the needs of industries such as automotive, where large volumes and quality are critical. For DENSO, the technology offers the potential to reduce production times and improve responsiveness to changing customer demands.
This investment is part of DENSO’s broader strategy to strengthen its digital transformation (DX) initiatives in manufacturing. In addition to partnering with technology companies like Seurat, DENSO is also developing in-house solutions such as the Factory-IoT Platform, which supports the digitization of factory operations.
Through these efforts, DENSO seeks to optimize workflows, increase operational flexibility, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
