FANUC announced on February 9, 2018, that it has acquired all shares of Life Robotics, a venture company that manufactures and sells CORO, a collaborative robot, and made it a wholly owned subsidiary.
The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed. Recently, there has been an increasing demand for collaborative robots that do not require safety fences and can work with people.
Through this acquisition, FANUC aims to expand its lineup of collaborative robots to meet growing demand. CORO has no sharp elbows, is safe, and can operate in a space.
