MECHATRONICS TECHNOLOGY JAPAN (MECT) 2021 will start tomorrow. MECT is a machine tool trade show held in odd-numbered years. As of September 15, 2021, there will be 426 exhibitors, totaling 1,796 booths. In the machine tool industry, foreign demand has been recovering steadily since the second half of last year, but the recovery in domestic demand has been somewhat lackluster. MECT is expected to be as a chance for raising domestic demand.
Let’s Find Something!
MECT is a machine tool trade show organized by News Digest Publishing, the company that publishes SEISANZAI Japan. MECT is held every two years in odd-numbered years at Port Messe Nagoya in Minato Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
The catchphrase for MECT2021 is “Let’s Find Something!”. The organizer has reduced the number of booths by about 10% compared to MECT as usual in order to provide the space and aisle width necessary to prevent COVID-19 infections. However, MECT2021 is the largest machine tool fair this year. Therefore, there are high expectations for MECT2021 as an opportunity to increase domestic demand.
MECT is held in the Chubu region of Japan, where the automobile and aircraft industries are densely concentrated, and MECT is always crowded with visitors in work clothes. Since many of the visitors are machine tool users, exhibitors are able to hear directly from them about the needs from their production sites. This year’s exhibition is also expected to attract a large number of people in work clothes.
Exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products and technologies such as machine tools, peripherals and cutting tools to attract visitors. Automation systems and digital technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) are also likely to be seen at the venue.
MECT2021 will start tomorrow. SEISANZAI Japan editorial team will introduce the exhibits of major exhibitors in the second part of this articles.
