MECHATRONICS TECHNOLOGY JAPAN (MECT) 2021 was held at Port Messe Nagoya in Nagoya City’s Minato Ward for four days from October 20 to 23, 2021. A total of 68,929 people visited the trade show over the four days.
Aichi Prefecture, where MECT is held, is the region the automotive related companies are concentrated. The automotive industry has entered a period of once-in-a-century change, and the shift to electrification is steadily progressing. For this reason, exhibitors displayed many solutions for electric vehicle (EV) parts.
Yamazaki Mazak, which exhibited six machine tools, proposed friction stir welding (FSW) technology for EV parts. Although the company did not display its machine tools, it showed several sample workpieces such as motor cases for EVs manufactured by FSW and cutting.
JTEKT showed two models: the “e300GPi-HYPER” compact cylindrical grinding machine and the “FV7000Z” vertical machining center. Both machines are designed for EVs parts machining, and the “e300GPi” is capable of grinding motor shafts for EVs. The company also changed the logo of the machine from “TOYODA” to the company name “JTEKT”.
Amada Press System, a member of the Amada Group, also exhibited the “SDEW8010i III + ALFAS-03ARZ” automation system for progressive stamping press machine, which focus on EV parts machining.
