Robot Delivery Association was launched. The association aims to promote delivery services using automated delivery robots. The eight founding companies are Kawasaki Heavy Industries, ZMP (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President Tsune Taniguchi), TIS, Tiafor (Nakamura-ku, Nagoya, CTO Shinpei Kato), Japan Post, Panasonic, Honda, and Rakuten Group.
The first step of the group will be to establish safety standards and guidelines for delivery robots on public roads. “This year will be the starting point of the diffusion of robot delivery. We welcome both logistics-related businesses and those related to robotics and robot delivery to join our association,” said Koji Ando, managing executive officer of Rakuten Group.
