SMC, a leading Japanese manufacturer of pneumatic equipment, announced on June 13 that it will open the “Kashiwanoha Campus New Technology Center (provisional name)” in the “Kashiwanoha Smart City” under construction in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture.
This technology center is designed to be a global flagship R&D base. Construction of the building will begin in December this year and is scheduled for completion in August 2025. It will consist of three five-story buildings with a land area of 42,794 m2, a building area of 29,407 m2 and a total floor area of 85,320 m2. The total investment will be 120 billion yen.
Yoshitada Doi, Managing Executive Officer and Senior GM of Engineering Headquarters of SMC Corporation, commented; Our automatic control equipment can contribute to solving social issues such as global warming and a declining workforce, and we expect demand for our products to further expand in the future. The combination of a rich natural environment, a concentration of cutting-edge research institutions, and convenient transportation makes Kashiwanoha an ideal location. We want to make it a base for innovation by providing a place where we can openly interact with a variety of people.
