Amada unveils new laser and band saw technologies at AIF2018

July 5, 2018

Further evolution of ENSIS laser technology and entry into nonmetal cutting

Amada Holdings (HD) continued its showcase of new innovations at the Amada Innovation Fair (AIF) 2018, held at its Solution Center in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The event highlighted advanced laser cutting and saw machine technologies developed under the theme of “evolution.”

ENSIS series upgraded to 6 kW and 9 kW output

The new ENSIS series fiber laser machines represent a significant upgrade, increasing output power from the previous 3 kW to 6 kW and 9 kW. More importantly, Amada has enhanced its proprietary “ENSIS Technology” with additional features for improved performance.

A newly developed autocollimation mechanism has been added, which enables optimization of the beam’s focusing diameter. This advancement allows for high-speed, stable cutting of thick plates while also improving surface roughness.

Amada also introduced a technology that significantly reduces the consumption of assist gas, addressing global demand for more efficient and environmentally friendly fiber laser cutting solutions.

Expansion into nonmetal processing with new band saw

As part of its broader strategy, Amada HD also introduced the diamond band saw “DBSAW-500,” developed by Amada Sanwa Daiya, a group company acquired the previous year. This new machine enables precision cutting of hard and brittle materials, including ceramics used in electronic components and semiconductors.

“We aim to enter the nonmetal machining market and expand our cutting business,” said President Tsutomu Isobe, expressing a strong commitment to future growth.
