iREX 2023 is about to open its doors in Tokyo, Japan. iREX 2023, which has been described as one of “the world’s largest robotics exhibitions”, has been held every two years since 1974 and is now in its 25th year. iREX 2022 was the largest ever held at that time, with 615 companies and organizations exhibiting in 3227 booths, even in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. This year’s exhibition is even larger than the previous one, with 654 companies and organizations exhibiting in 3508 booths. Overseas exhibitors, which had declined at the previous exhibition due to the pandemic, account for about 20% of all exhibitors at this year’s exhibition, and a record number of 121 companies and 443 booths from 18 countries are expected to exhibit.
Industrial robots are not only used in conventional industries such as automotive and semiconductors. They’re also being used in expanding new fields such as logistics, food and medical sectors. The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is also advancing, accelerating automation and productivity improvements through the use of robots.
Tokyo Big Sight’s East Halls 1-8 and West Halls 3 and 4 host exhibits of the latest systems and equipment for industrial robots, whose applications are expanding with hot topics such as collaborative robots, digital transformation (DX), and digital twin-related robots and solutions. The Robot SIer Zone highlights integrator companies critical to the adoption of robots, while the Robot Simulation & Vision System Zone showcases core technologies, including VR, AR and more. The Logistics System & Robot Zone and the Parts Feeder Zone feature the latest robotic systems and supply systems, such as parts feeders, used in the logistics industry.
A variety of presentations, concurrent events, and exhibits take place in the West Hall. In addition to a forum that brings together robot manufacturers and users, and lectures by overseas robot industry associations, stages with unique themes such as “Smart Agriculture,” “Generative AI,” and “Mobile Suit Gundam” are not to be missed.
During the exhibition, free shuttle buses run daily between the Rinkai Line International Exhibition Hall Station, East Hall and West Hall.
