AMADA PRESS SYSTEM (Isehara City, Kanagawa, Japan; President: Kimio Horie) has invested 1.7 billion yen to expand and renovate its manufacturing base for press peripheral devices at the Isehara-Suzukawa Works in Isehara City. This upgrade aims to streamline the flow of materials within the plant and enhance the assembly area, increasing domestic production capacity for these devices by 70% compared to previous levels. Full operations have started in June. The increased capacity is in response to the growing demand for automated workpiece supply and transport systems both domestically and internationally, driven by labor shortages.
In conjunction with the factory expansion and process integration, the company has implemented a “manufacturing reform” that includes the expansion of modular planned production, digital management of work-in-process inventory, and a review of logistics. These efforts have reduced assembly lead time by 40% compared to previous levels.
The inauguration ceremony was held on June 18, followed by a two-day event on June 19 and 20, during which business partners and collaborating companies were invited to tour the newly operational plant (= photo). “The main goals are to expand production capacity, reform manufacturing processes, and enhance employee motivation. The completion of the plant expansion gives us great satisfaction,” said President Horie with pride.
