On June 16, Yaskawa Electric announced plans to establish a new site in Franklin, Wisconsin, USA. The company will invest approximately USD 180 million (around JPY 26 billion) over the next 8 to 10 years to build a comprehensive facility. This new base will include corporate headquarters, an R&D center, a training facility, and a factory for industrial robots.
The company also plans to consolidate its current U.S. headquarters and production facilities, currently located in Illinois, into this new site. The land area of the upcoming facility will exceed 74,000 square meters.
Amid a trend of reshoring in the U.S. manufacturing sector, there is a rapid increase in capital investment aimed at automation and labor-saving solutions on the shop floor. With the establishment of this new site, Yaskawa aims to boost local production of industrial robots and better respond to rising automation needs, thereby strengthening its presence in the U.S. market.
