Reducing cycle time with dual-turret, dual-spindle configuration

Yamazaki Mazak has released the compact CNC lathe “QRX-50MSY SG,” equipped with upper and lower turrets and opposing dual spindles. The machine enables simultaneous turning and milling operations using the upper and lower turrets. Additionally, left and right simultaneous machining with the two opposing spindles is possible, significantly reducing cycle time compared to machines with a one-turret, two-spindle configuration.

Work unloader supports continuous automatic operation

The “Work Unloader” automatically removes workpieces, unloading completed parts from the second spindle while the first spindle machines new workpieces. This enables continuous automatic operation without compromising machining cycle time. The gripping unit of the Work Unloader is available in two types: a hand type and a bucket type for small-diameter workpieces that cannot be gripped by hand.

MAZATROL Smooth G improves visibility of turret operations

The machine adopts the “MAZATROL Smooth G” CNC system. By displaying turret information in two separate columns, operators can monitor both turrets’ operations at a glance.

The company has also released the “QRX-50MY SG”, featuring upper and lower turrets in a tailstock configuration. This model is suitable for the mass production of shaft parts and small-diameter bar work.
