Murata Machinery (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto; President Daisuke Murata) announced on November 13 the establishment of a new technology and product development base for material handling automation systems used in factories and logistics centers. The new facility, named “Logi-Designs Yokohama,” will be in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City, and is scheduled to open in January 2026.
The center will have a total floor area of approximately 900 square meters and enable end-to-end development, from core technologies such as AI to higher-level systems that integrate material handling equipment. This integrated approach is expected to accelerate development speed. Personnel currently assigned to existing R&D bases in Yokohama will be relocated to the new center, with plans to expand the workforce to around 80 people by 2030.
