On December 14, 2017, Yoshiaki Numata, president of Mitutoyo, announced the establishment of “Mitutoyo Optics Manufacturing America Corporation (MOMAC)”, a manufacturing subsidiary in Washington, USA. This is the first time for Mitutoyo to establish a manufacturing base in North America. The amount of investment and the total floor space of the production base have not been disclosed. The company plans to produce a variable focal length lens “tag lens” and aims to start production during this year.
