DMG MORI announced on August 28, 2019, that its BIRDMAN HOUSE Iga team won the human powered aircraft section of the Japan International Birdman Rally 2019 held in Lake Biwa, Shiga Prefecture in July.
The team flew 60 km, the longest record under the current rules in the division competing for the cruising range of the airplanes. This is the second time for the team to win the race. Yuta Watanabe, a employee who took charge of working the aircraft, said, “we had a hard time dealing with the strong wind, but we were able to fly with the support of my colleagues.
